Own Will

"I can do nothing on My own initiative.
As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just,
because I do not seek My own will,
but the will of Him who sent Me."
John 5:30

This is the first act in seeking or discovering the Will of the Lord over your life. You need to give up your own will by opening your heart and mind to the truth that life is not about you. Life is about Jesus in you who makes all things possible so that you may have life and have it abundantly.

Nothing but self-will can separate us from God. -- St. Alphonsus Liguori

Only the free will is capable of good or evil. But when the will sighs under the trial of the tempter and does not will what is presented to it, there is not only no fault but there is virtue. -- Saint Pio of Pietrelcina

The self-willed who disobey the truth and obey unrighteousness will fall anger and fury, affliction and awful distress -- Romans 2:8

They did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will.  -- 2 Corinthians 8:5

Men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy. -- 2 Timothy 3:2

Be a man of blameless life, true to his one wife, having children who are themselves believers and are free from every reproach of profligacy or of stubborn self-will. -- Titus 1:6

Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. -- Psalm 37:4

"Then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob." The mouth of the LORD has spoken. -- Isaiah 58:14

You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the LORD, you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." -- Deuteronomy 30:20

Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may be restored! Renew our days as of old. -- Lamentations 5:21

Let my soul not enter into their council; Let not my glory be united with their assembly; Because in their anger they slew men, And in their self-will they lamed oxen. -- Genesis 49:6
